This is a huge fireplace mantel. It's about 10 feet by 4 feet when you consider the wrap-around. It is composed of five 8x8 (or so) beams that have been joined together with bolts running through the pieces. The front is a sill beam where the joists set into place. They have been filled with a darker white oak. -- Close-up 02
