Red Elm has some great warm colors in the milk chocolate browns,
maroons, and chestnut range. It shows a great deal of color variation depending
on where it was grown and the conditions it was in while
sitting in the old barn. The grains are plesant as well
with quite a
bit of variation. While it is notorous for very twisty
grains, it can also have very straight grain when quartersawn.
The patina tends to be either there or not there. It doesn't
have a lot of middle ground or blending between a strong patina
and no patina.
We can provide samples of exact batches so you have a good
feel for what to expect out of your countertop or harvest table.
