
This is basic piece of pine that has been heavily sanded to bring out the character of the knots. We bleached the piece to bring the color even lighter. The 4th picture down shows original chisel marks that indicated the position of the beam in the barn. Many builders used a notation to indicate which "bent" and location the beam belonged to. This barn dates back to about the 1920s or 30s.
The back side was left original. You can see pretty close to what we started with.
