A trestle table with some lighter Shaker type stylings. It is much thinner and finer than much of our work, but it still uses some great old wood. This wood came from a corn crib in Wisconsin where it had seen lots of weathering.
This was a nice custom design with our customer, Katie. She came up with a a very specifc size top to fit nicely into her banquette, also known as a kitchen nook or booth.
We sketched up the drawing in Google's Sketchup. She said, "Can we lighten it up a bit? More shaker style?" So it was. The top went down to 1.25" (rather than 1.75"), the legs became skinnier and thus taller looking, and the feet changed significantly
As we began to build, we made a couple other little changes like the feet that only became clear when we had the wood in hand. This was a nice collaboration that produced a great trestle table.
While this one is sold, we can craft others with the same or different wood, different sizes, but yet maintain the nice sense of proportion.
