White oak is a great, classic Hardwood. It has been used
for centuries as wine and beer barrels, classic American
furniture, and cabinetry. While we sometimes hear, "I don't
like oak" from our customers. They usually have not seen
the older material. Oftens people think of the very wavy
plain sawn veneered cabinets. Honestly, that's not our
favorite look either. But a tight grained, nicely colored,
piece of a northern white oak can be pretty stunning. We offer several different variations of white oak. Our "Clean" variety tends to be cut from the interior of beams. It has less color varition and a smoother surface. The price is a little less because the work to sand and smooth the surface is less involved than some of the hand hewn or strong patina looks.
